After courageously serving in the United States military, Bobby Burns spent many years working as a hazardous materials truck driver. While filling up his tanker one day in 2017, Burns was sprayed in the face with a blast of sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid caused severe burns to his face, neck and arm.
Per protocol, Burns was wearing all of his protective gear, including safety glasses, which prevented him from losing his vision. It was also due to the outstanding work of his doctors that Burns was able to make an exceptional recovery. However, the scars and pain from those injuries will plague him for the rest of his life.
Coker Law Battles Multinational Corporation
Severely injured, unable to work, and unsure of where to turn, Burns knew he needed someone on his side and called the team at Coker Law. Attorney David Thompson knew Burns deserved someone to fight for him. The attorneys and legal team at Coker Law knew, through their collective experience, that this case would be difficult and time-consuming from the start, but they all had one goal: achieving justice for Bobby Burns.
Burns’ doctors first had to determine if he would require additional surgeries after he finished his medical treatments. After more than a year and a half and $51,163.82 worth of medical treatments, the case was finally able to move forward.
Several depositions occurred over the two-year time span that helped the Coker Law team determine what went wrong that ultimately caused Burns’ injuries. The team had to track down numerous documents and dig deep into many issues during each of the depositions of the people that were present the day of the incident.
Due to Coker Law’s commitment to justice and having the resources necessary to take on a large, multinational corporation, the case was amicably resolved.
“Mr. Burns is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and being able to help him and his family through this terribly tragic ordeal was one of the most gratifying things I have done as a lawyer,” said Attorney David Thompson. “I am glad he entrusted our firm with this tough case and that we were able to give him the justice he deserved.”
