Corinne Hodak practices in the area of civil litigation, focusing primarily on representing patients who have been injured as a result of medical negligence or malpractice. With decades of legal experience and a prior career as an intensive care nurse, she brings a rare combination of medical insight and legal precision to her work. Known for her fierce advocacy and genuine empathy, she has built a reputation as both a trusted counselor and a relentless advocate for justice.
Clients turn to Corinne not only for her extensive knowledge of complex medical and legal issues, but also because she listens, truly understanding the emotional toll of medical malpractice cases. She works tirelessly to secure accountability and the compensation her clients deserve.
Corinne earned her law degree with honors from the University of Florida College of Law and is a member of both The Florida Bar and the Massachusetts Bar. Before practicing law, she worked as a nursing assistant to put herself through college, first graduating from Florida Junior College with an Associate Degree in Nursing and later graduating summa cum laude from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked for more than a decade as a registered nurse specializing in intensive care before transitioning into law. As a nurse, she advocated for patients who were often critically ill and unable to speak for themselves. Now, she advocates for patients in the courtroom, pursuing justice when they have been harmed. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the University of North Florida College of Health, bridging her nursing and legal expertise.
Throughout her legal career, Corinne has handled medical malpractice cases, as well as cases involving defective medical products, and has participated in Multi-District Litigation. She also served as a Special Magistrate in forming a system for virtual trials during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A leader in the legal profession, Corinne has held influential roles at the local, state, and national levels. She is a longtime member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), where she has served as President of the Jacksonville Chapter, National Secretary, and Trustee of the ABOTA Foundation. She has also served on ABOTA’s National Executive Committee and co-chaired the Long-Range Planning Committee. Her ABOTA service reflects both depth and vision: she has advanced initiatives that safeguard the right to trial by jury, expand civics education, and foster professionalism in advocacy. She is especially enthusiastic about civics education and has organized programs for students and teachers.
Her service extends to The Florida Bar, where she has chaired the Civil Procedure Rules Committee and the Code and Rules of Evidence Committee, in addition to serving on the Rules of Judicial Administration Committee. She has chaired multiple subcommittees, shaping important policy and practice standards that impact the profession. At the local level, she has led projects for the Jacksonville Bar Association, including one that provides gifts to hundreds of eligible senior citizens.
She has also advanced civility and professionalism through her service to the American Inns of Court. As Counselor of the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court, she coordinated programs promoting civility in the profession and mentoring young lawyers, while serving on the Executive Committee for more than 10 years. She also organized a trip to the English Inns of Court and the Irish Inn of Court, where members met with Barristers and Judges. Later, the American Inns of Court asked her to assist the newly chartered St. Augustine Inn of Court, where she remains an active member.
Corinne’s contributions have been recognized through numerous awards and honors. She was named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Jacksonville Chapter of ABOTA, received the Spirit of Giving Award from the Federal Bar Association, and earned the F. Scott Baldwin Award for Outstanding Trial Lawyer from the American Trial Lawyers Association. She has been consistently recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Florida Top Lawyers, and Jacksonville Top Lawyers. In 2021, she received the ABOTA Foundation Founder’s Award, and in 2017 she was honored with the Mike Dewberry Award for Outstanding Service to the Chester Bedell Inn of Court.
Her career reflects not only excellence in the courtroom, but also a lifelong dedication to advocacy, education, and public service. She has published and spoken extensively to both legal and medical audiences on topics ranging from medical malpractice to professionalism in trial practice. In addition, she remains actively engaged in education and civic life as a University of North Florida Foundation Board Member, Trustee Emeritus for the University of Florida College of Law, and member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee for the University of North Florida College of Nursing.
Whether representing patients in the courtroom, mentoring young lawyers, or shaping the future of the profession, Corinne embodies the principles of professionalism, service, and justice that define both her career and her character.
