Chelsea Harris has practiced law in Duval County for almost 20 years, trying more than 50 cases to verdict, and currently focuses on personal injury-plaintiff, bodily injury, automobile crashes and premises liability.
Ms. Harris obtained her Board Certification in Civil Trial Law in 2022. Prior to joining Coker Law’s elite team of personal injury attorneys, she held the role of managing shareholder with the firm of Kubicki Draper, defending some of the largest insurance companies in the country.
Her range of civil defense cases spanned automobile accidents, premises liability, products liability, first party actions and police liability actions. Ms. Harris’s background in defense practice provides her with an invaluable insight into the handling of cases both pre-suit and in litigation.
Prior to working with the civil defense firm, Ms. Harris worked as an assistant state attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit in Duval County. Ms. Harris is AV rated. She was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2019 and was selected to join the International Society of Barristers in 2020. She was named to the Jacksonville Business Journal’s top 40 under 40 in 2021 for her trial work with Coker Law Personal Injury Lawyers and dedication to the community and was selected to be a member of the Leadership Jacksonville 2022 class.
She has also regularly been recognized in Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. She is a member of the Jacksonville Women Lawyers’ Association, Jacksonville Justice Association (JJA), the Florida Justice Association (FJA), and previously served as chair and vice-chair of the Law Week Committee for the Jacksonville Bar Association (JBA). She served as a volunteer for Guardian ad Litem from 2004-2006.
Ms. Harris graduated cum laude in 2006, with a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. While at Florida Coastal School of Law, she was a member of its successful Moot Court Honor Board, where she competed in five moot court appellate competitions and won the Robert Orseck Moot Court Competition in 2006, the Jessup International Law Moot Court Regional Competition, and secured the rank of the 24th best team in the world in the International Jessup Moot Court Competition.
Ms. Harris was recognized as the 11th best oralist in the International Competition. Prior to attending Florida Coastal School of Law, Ms. Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ms. Harris is married to fellow Coker Law attorney Joel Harris and together they have three children, ages 16, 13, and 9. Outside of her trial work, Ms. Harris also serves on the board of the Florida Ballet and on the Board of the Early Learning Coalition. When not in the courtroom, Ms. Harris enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on the Tar Heels, and supporting her kids in baseball, dance, and track.
